Royal Rajasthan Rally – Day 4

Royal Rajasthan Rally Day 4 – Nagaur to Jaisalmer via Pokharan | Bespoke Rallies

It was a Sunday morning and Nagaur which is a heavily Muslim town was waking to a Muslim gathering in the main square of indeterminate reason but just the previous day the supreme court had ruled about a holy site in favour of the Hindus so this was probably why. We departed in convoy, although the gathering looked well tempered as it included women and children. One car had a puncture so we arranged for this to be repaired before heading towards Jaisalmer. Soon after we encountered another large crowd marching to a festival ground in one of the villages. This held up some of the cars for around 20 minutes but is was all good humoured. With good roads for most of the morning, the pace was good and all cars arrived at the Pokharan Fort lunch stop by 12.30. Leaving at around 2.30 we were on beautiful and fast new roads for the rest of the day. The local police were also alert to the fast roads and had set up a speed trap at a particularly straight section and managed to collect a good revenue from our teams!

End of day was at Surayagarh Hotel outside Jaislamer – a fantastic fort hotel that looks ancient in style but is around just 10 years old! A beautiful cool night with a meal by candlelight enede a perfect day.
