Magical Madagascar Day 9 – June 23rd – Fianarantsoa National Park to Isalo
Back along 20kms of rough track before hitting the RN7 on Magical Madagascar Day 9 – yes, they use the French road numbering system – and immediately the road conditions were the best we have encountered. The roads emptied after the first hour, the scenery was dramatic, huge rocks pushed up from the landscape, escarpments ringed the horizon and the land opened up for the first time. The road snaked through a gorge and climbed onto a plateau which stretch for miles in all directions – reminiscent of the pampas of Argentina. The Romans would have been proud of the straightness of the roads which only dipped and turned as we passed through the infrequent villages.
